Taxi Driver Mr. Pang - 22nd April 2006
Today on the way to YF, i shared with a cab driver. He was quite against Christianity and any religion... Started by talking bout City Harvest being a huge church, doesn't understand why a church needs to have so many members.

As we talked, he started getting angry and loud... was actually really loud by the time i neared church. almost shouting at me about the stuff we were talkin bout. to cut a long story short, he seemed to have some negative experiences with Christianity and seemed to really not be keen on listening to anything i had to say. so it was more of him talking, me listening and trying to get my points into the conversation in vain.
An example would be when he was saying that Christians converted his sister in law as she was dying of cancer in the hospital. he said he was angry that they did that coz at the last moment when she's about to die, she gets converted then she won't know where she's going. "whole life buddhist then you last minute go and convert her. shouldn't do that la. shouldn't do that. very bad to make someone who almost dying change then they also dunno where they going. their whole life buddhist then last minute change to Christianity. very bad for the person dunno where they going."
So tried to tell him that they were helping her know where she's going. then he cut me off and said, no one knows where we go. die then we know. now no one knows.
so i ventured and said, well uncle... i know where i... [then got cut off by his shouting]
NO LA! you dunno! i dunno, you dunno, no one knows.

so yeh, to put it plainly... he was jus letting out steam and i was being patient, understanding and listening. It was tough coz i couldn't bring across any points to him. nothing seemed to quieten him down. And yeh, in the end when i left the cab thanking him for telling me all those stuff... i wasn't able to say ANYTHING about Jesus dying for Him or anything thot provoking for him to think about. Sigh. but yeh, prayed with Dinesh immediately and committed Mr. Pang to the Lord. :)

But i also thank God for giving me a "negative" experience. I would like to learn from this and gain exposure so next time i know wad to say, do or react. :) It's just my prayer that the good news will reach him one day and that he'll change his mind about religion, Christianity and God.

tagged and realised the tag will be gone someday haha. so here am i commenting. yar.. i was saying that it will never be too late to repent i guess. Even on the death bed. The robber that was crucified with Jesus Christ repented the last minute, on his 'death bed' too. if i didn't remember wrongly.. haha. Yay i didn't.. says so on Luke 23:39-42 and in verse 43, Jesus said to him "assuredly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise" =)

Yup you're right. and in the sermon notes that i owe you, one of the main points was wad you jus brought up. now even MORE, i have to type them out for you in soft copy. sigh.i feel so bad. maybe i'll do so today at work or sumthing. but i can't find my thumb drive see...so i will have to bring my Zen cable. eee. haha. see how la. today transferring to the new computer i think. :)

but thanks for commenting, you are right to say that it's never too late, but the thot always plays in your mind... what if he never had a chance? what if he crashed his taxi and died immediately... what if he didn't HAVE a death bed, he jus had a death? i mean, we never know wad might happen in the next few moments. Just hope that he'll have a chance to choose. like the theif. :)
